Legislative Notes

One of the most brilliant and inspired ideas ever conceived by the American mind is having an election every two years. Citizens in the United States have the opportunity to select their elected representatives, and they don’t have to wait very long to determine whether or not they chose wisely.

Ask a Master Gardener

My yellow squash have lots of blooms but no squash, did I get all male plants? Most vining vegetables including squash and cucumbers, are monoecious, meaning each plant produces both male and female flowers. Female blooms can be identified by the tiny bulb at the base of the flower that will eventually become the vegetable and male flowers have a straight stem.

Salvaging Drought Stressed Corn and Milo

With much of the state of Nebraska in some level of drought, salvaging drought-stressed corn and milo is a challenge, particularly for producers in the southwest region of the state where severe to extreme drought conditions persist.

Grasshoppers On The Range

With dry conditions statewide, natural grasshopper population controls that thrive in warm, humid weather are not as effective and the resulting large population starts to eat any remaining forage they can find. While dry themselves, pastures offer hungry insects food that they readily consume.

FallForage Inventory
