The nursing home situation in rural Nebraska is facing some very serious challenges. Last year, there were at least six nursing homes that closed in rural Nebraska. We lost the nursing home in Valentine and the facilities in Ainsworth and Crawford are in tough shape. Skilled nursing facilities across the state face similar challenges.

Brown County Hospital Announces Signing of Kenneth Wasmund, MD

Brown County Hospital announced Monday, May 16th that Kenneth Wasmund, MD has signed a contract to join the staff at the Brown County Hospital and Ainsworth Family Clinic. Dr. Wasmund is a Family Practitioner and will begin practicing in Ainsworth in the summer of 2023.

Ainsworth City Council Discusses Care Center Funding and Chicken Ordinance

During the regular meeting of the Ainsworth City Council on May 11th, the Council discussed continued funding of the Sandhills Care Center. The original item on the agenda was to consider amending the interlocal agreement between the City of Ainsworth and Brown County forming the Care Center to create a separate legal entity.

Ainsworth Community Schools Graduates Class of 2022

Thirty-nine students of Ainsworth Community Schools are now a part of the Ainsworth Alumni after receiving their diplomas on Sunday, May 15, 2022. The Ainsworth High School band, under the direction of Erin Rathe, played "Pomp and Circumstance" during the processional.

Ainsworth Tracksters Headed to 2022 NSAA State Track Meet

The Ainsworth Bulldog Track Team qualified eight athletes for the 2022 NSAA Class C State Track Meet in 14 events. The qualifiers (front row - left to right): Kaitlyn Nelson, Eden Raymond, Katherine Kerrigan, Emma Kennedy and Cameryn Goochey; (back row-left to right): Ty Schlueter, Carter Nelson and Caleb Allen. The 2022 NSAA State Track Meet will be held at Burke Stadium in Omaha on Friday and Saturday, May 20th and 21st.
