Ainsworth Community Schools Begins Classes on Thursday, August 13

Ainsworth Community Schools will open its doors to students for the 2026-27 school year on Thursday, August 13. The school has a host of new employees beginning this year.

Ainsworth recaptured the Border Cup Saturday at the Ainsworth Golf Course, winning the annual match play event between members of the Ainsworth Golf Course and Bassett Country Club by a score of 15-1/2 to 9-1/2.

The rumble of motorcycles and the spirit of generosity filled the roads of north central Nebraska on Saturday as the Celtic Riders hosted their annual Miles That Matter Poker Run, raising funds to help Ainsworth youngster Kolter Mizner and his family.
Century Lumber Held Summer Drawings

Century Lumber Center of Ainsworth held two drawings with entries taking place the last week of June and ending on Independence Day weekend. One drawing celebrated America’s 250th birthday.

The Long Pine City Council held a regular meeting on Thursday, November at 7:00 p.m. at the Long Pine Community Center. Council members Linda Alberts, Dave Cheatum, Kathy Papstein and Andrea Collatos were present, as well as City Clerk Jan Buoy, Mayor Ed Brown, City Attorney Rod Palmer and Utilities Superintendent Jim Debolt.

The Brown County Board of Commissioners held their regular meeting on Tuesday, November 2nd at the Brown County Courthouse. Commissioners Dennis Bauer and Reagan Wiebelhaus were present and Buddy Small was absent. Brown County Attorney Andy Taylor and Clerk Travee Hobbs were also present.

School board members Jim Arens, Mark Johnson, Frank Beel, Jessica Pozehl, Scott Erthum and Brad Wilkins were present. This meeting immediately followed the School Board Data Retreat, a board work session, at 6:00 p.m.
