BCAC Plans New Fall and Winter Activities

After a hiatus in activities due to COVID, the Brown County Arts Council (BCAC) has planned a slate of events for the upcoming fall/ winter season. First on the calendar is a visit from the Nebraska Shakespeare Company on Tuesday, November 9th.

Hospital Board Hires Firm to Assist with CEO Recruitment

A regular meeting of the Brown County Hospital (BCH) Board of Trustees was held Monday, October 18, 2021. Attending were Chairman Brent Deibler, John Gross, Tate Schipporeit, Brian Delimont and Jim Walz. Also attending were Tad Stearns - Controller, Lisa Fischer - HR, Erica Hasenohr - Clinic Manager, Matt Lentz - Quality Coordinator and Tami Kovar - Recording Secretary. Travis Englund joined the meeting via Zoom.

Hospital Board Hires Ruth Stephens as Interim CEO

A special meeting of the Brown County Hospital Board of Trustees was held on Friday, October 22, 2021. Board member John Gross made a motion to go into executive session at the Brown County Hospital Conference Room to interview Ruth Stephens for the Interim CEO position.

Ainsworth Kids Trick-or-Treat on Main Street

The mustard and ketchup of Ainsworth PEO hand out treats to a local bowhunter. This extinct dinosaur is still hungry for the treats received from the booth outside Buckles Automotive.

Daylight Saving Time Began as a Fuel-Saving Measure During World War I & II

At 2:00 a.m. on Sunday, November 7th, clocks will “fall back” one hour, giving us more daylight in the autumn and winter mornings and earlier sunsets. This is the end of the Daylight Saving Time, a period from March to November where clocks are set one hour earlier than Standard Time.

When the Heart Can’t Keep Up

A woman had been feeling short of breath for several weeks. Physical activities which had previously been easy for her were becoming a chore. In fact, simply laying down resulted in difficulty breathing. She had gained some weight and her legs were swollen.
