Ainsworth Senior Center Celebrates 45 Years

Forty-five years ago on August 2, 1981, the Ainsworth Senior Center held an open house to celebrate their new building. Senior Center officers in 1981 were Dorothy Walton, Bill Gudgel, Dwight Moody, Burdetta Jansen and George Brede.

A Friday night fire destroyed a building in Ainsworth. According to Ainsworth Assistant Fire Chief Devin Painter, at approximately 9:30 p.m.
Ainsworth Community Schools Begins Classes on Thursday, August 13

Ainsworth Community Schools will open its doors to students for the 2026-27 school year on Thursday, August 13. The school has a host of new employees beginning this year.
Ainsworth Reclaims Border Cup

Ainsworth recaptured the Border Cup Saturday at the Ainsworth Golf Course, winning the annual match play event between members of the Ainsworth Golf Course and Bassett Country Club by a score of 15-1/2 to 9-1/2.

The Ainsworth Lions Club hosted the 53rd Annual AHS All-Sports Tailgate Party on Tuesday, April 27th to honor Ainsworth High School athletes for their accomplishments this past year. AHS athletes showed their impressive grit and determination over the last year when faced with the many challenges that the COVID-19 pandemic brought to sports.

Construction on Highway 20 Through Ainsworth and Long Pine Bridge Delayed; No Bids on Ainsworth Project

Nebraska Department of Transportation has delayed the construction work initially planned for this spring and summer that would repair Highway 20 through Ainsworth and the Highway 20 bridge over Long Pine Creek in Brown County. Work on Highway 83 through Valentine, planned to begin this spring, has also been delayed.

Three Projects Qualify for National History Day Contest

Six Ainsworth Middle School students submitted projects to the state level of the National History Day contest, and winners were announced in a virtual awards ceremony on Sunday, April 25th. Three projects received first or second place at the state contest, qualifying them for the national competition.
