This past week was rooted in the agricultural innovation that drives our state forward as well as legislative action that protects our way of life. It’s a privilege to share some of the highlights from the Capitol and back home in the district.

Ainsworth Irrigation District Board Meeting The Board of Directors of the Ainsworth Irrigation District will meet on Tuesday, August 5 at 8 p.m. at the Ainsworth Irrigation District headquarters building, 1 mile east and a quarter of a mile north of Ainsworth.

Incoming Ainsworth freshman Addilyn Doke, daughter of Bryan and Melissa Doke, competed at the National FCCLA Convention in Orlando, Florida. The National Convention was held from July 5 - 9 at the Orange County Convention Center.

The Brown County Board of Commissioners met for their regular meeting on July 15th in the Brown County Courthouse meeting room. Commissioners Jeremiah Dailey, Don Painter, and Dennis Bauer were present.

On Friday, July 18, a storm seemingly popped up ‘out of nowhere’ in the Ainsworth area. The storm rapidly built in strength, with lightning strikes so close thunder roared in the city of Ainsworth.

We hear a lot about heroes these days. Accomplished athletes are admired as idols for throwing around a ball, while actors in blockbuster movies portray individuals who can fly and use their incredible powers to save the universe. However, in the real world, it’s encouraging to know there are humble and hardly noticed genuine heroes all around us. Without a desire to be praised or even recognized, there are selfless good Samaritans who are willing to sacrifice their lives so that others can live, a testament to John 15:13. The following story is an example of these heavenly secret agents.
