Nebraska members proudly represented their schools, communities, and state association at the highly anticipated FCCLA National Leadership Conference (NLC) held at the Orange County Convention Center July 5-9, 2025 in Orlando, Florida. This annual event brought together more than 10,500 passionate Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) student members, advisers, and guests, including 385 attendees from Nebraska.

My first clue was in chaplaincy training, known as “CPE” (Clinical Pastoral Education), the required education for most hospital and hospice chaplains. CNA, SoB (Shortness of Breath), PRN, HoH (Hard of Hearing), and a myriad of other acronyms are now part of my own vernacular. QoL (Quality of Life) is the ‘big’ one in hospice, sometimes called “comfort care.” When quantity of life becomes diminished, it’s all about quality.

Judy Walters of Ainsworth was elected and installed as the Commander of the Nebraska American Legion during the 107th annual Convention held June 26 - 29 in Columbus. Walters is eligible for the American Legion through her service in the U.S.

Kappa Kappa Iota, Psi Chapter, teacher sorority, met at the Rock County Long Term Care meeting room on July 17 to present awards to Helen Stec, Donna McGuire, and Jo Stec for being members of Kappa Kappa Iota for 57 years.
