The Rock County Community Center is almost finished and will soon be open to the public! After a few construction delays, it is now in the final stages of completion, and they’re planning for an official Grand Opening and Celebration on Saturday, March 1st. The Rock County Community Fund (RCCF) will be hosting an unforgettable evening to celebrate this long-awaited community treasure.

Fear of Tariffs Drove Imports to Record High After seven readings below growth neutral in 2024, the Creighton University Mid-America Business Conditions Index, a leading economic indicator for the nine-state region stretching from Minnesota to Arkansas, began the year with an index above the 50.0 growth neutral threshold. Overall Index: The Business Conditions Index, which uses the identical methodology as the national Institute for Supply Management (ISM) and ranges between 0 and 100 with 50.0 representing growth neutral, climbed to 51.1 from 48.7 in December.

In what came as a surprise to many, Nebraska’s head volleyball coach, John Cook, announced his retirement after 25 seasons at the helm of the program. Cook announced his retirement through a Nebraska Athletics press release.

Senators heard arguments to abolish the death penalty at the state level and to allow for execution via nitrogen hypoxia at the Nebraska Capitol on January 31st. In 2009, senators changed Nebraska’s method of execution to lethal injection after electrocution was ruled cruel and unusual punishment.
