“Fresh Garden Produce” I definitely love this time of year when you can walk out the back door of your house and pick fresh cucumbers off the vine. Hopefully it won’t be long and I’ll be picking my first vegetables in a couple of days! I haven’t been paying much attention to my tomato plants, but weeding the other day, I found tomatoes had set on.

Special Election Reveals Interesting History The special election to replace former First District Congressman Jeff Fortenberry was the first in Nebraska in 71 years. State Senator Mike Flood of Norfolk was elected to replace Fortenberry who was sentenced, the same day, to two years’ probation, a $25,000 fine, and 320 hours of community service after being found guilty of lying to the FBI about receiving campaign contributions from a foreigner.

It Is National High School Finals Rodeo Time!

Nebraska High School qualifiers will be heading for the 2022 National High School Finals Rodeo to be held in Gillette, WY July 17th through July 23rd. The National High School Rodeo Association (NHSRA) is the largest Youth organization in the Western Industry, with an annual membership of more than 12,000 students from 44 states, 5 Canadian provinces, Mexico, Australia and New Zealand.

Brown County Commissioners and Ainsworth City Council Discuss Future of Sandhills Care Center

The Brown County Commissioners and Ainsworth City Council met again to discuss funding for the Sandhills Care Center on July 5th during the regular meeting of the Brown County Commissioners. Commissioner Dennis Bauer said he requested the Care Center Board to put together funding scenarios following the meeting on June 13th along with resident counts from previous years.
