Ainsworth Senior Center Celebrates 45 Years

Forty-five years ago on August 2, 1981, the Ainsworth Senior Center held an open house to celebrate their new building. Senior Center officers in 1981 were Dorothy Walton, Bill Gudgel, Dwight Moody, Burdetta Jansen and George Brede.

A Friday night fire destroyed a building in Ainsworth. According to Ainsworth Assistant Fire Chief Devin Painter, at approximately 9:30 p.m.
Ainsworth Community Schools Begins Classes on Thursday, August 13

Ainsworth Community Schools will open its doors to students for the 2026-27 school year on Thursday, August 13. The school has a host of new employees beginning this year.
Ainsworth Reclaims Border Cup

Ainsworth recaptured the Border Cup Saturday at the Ainsworth Golf Course, winning the annual match play event between members of the Ainsworth Golf Course and Bassett Country Club by a score of 15-1/2 to 9-1/2.

Happle Shoots Perfect 100 to Win Junior High Title at 52nd Cornhusker Trap Shoot

Wyatt Happle of Beatrice was perfect Thursday, April 28th breaking all 100 targets during the junior high competition of the 52nd Cornhusker Trap Shoot in Doniphan, NE. On Thursday, 935 junior high shooters registered to compete, the second-highest total in the history of the event.

Middle School Golf Team Swings into Inaugural Season

In its inaugural season, the Ainsworth Middle School Golf Team played their first tournament in Bassett on April 21st and then competed in a dual with Valentine Middle School at the Ainsworth Municipal Golf Course on April 25th.

AHS Golfers Edge Out North Central for 2nd Place at Triangular

The AHS Boys Golf Team competed in a triangular with North Central and Valentine at the Bassett Country Club on Thursday, April 28th. They edged out home-team North Central for a second place team finish, and only outscored Valentine by twelve points.

The Ainsworth Lions Club hosted the 54th Annual AHS All-Sports Tailgate Party on Tuesday, April 26th to honor Ainsworth High School athletes for their accomplishments this past year. Special awards were presented by coaches and administration to outstanding athletes in the following sports: 2020-21 Girls Track: MVP – Kaitlyn Nelson.
