Alpha Delta Chapter of DKG Meets in Bassett

The Alpha Delta Chapter of DKG met on February 12, 2022 at Allen’s Pizza Place in Bassett with six members in attendance. After answering roll call, members made a donation to the Read Aloud Nebraska Fund.

Sheriff’s Report

February 13 - 19, 2022 Sunday, February 13th Released an individual from the Brown County Jail after serving two days of the weekend court commitment. Monday, February 14th Received a report of overflowing, blowing trash being strung about on Elm Street in Ainsworth that had been picked up several times by neighbors.

Drought Planning for the Grazing Season

The start of the growing season is just a couple of months away and last year’s drought conditions across parts of Nebraska should inspire us to complete grazing and forage plans for the coming year. Depending on the local drought severity in 2021, it is not uncommon that there would be some carryover effects on grass production in 2022.

Community Senior Center News

Taco or Chef Salad Available Thursday, February 24th: Roast beef, mashed potatoes, black beans, mandarin oranges, bread and milk. Friday, February 25th: Goulash, tropical fruit, biscuit and milk.

Local News

Carol Woods enjoyed the lovely day on Sunday of 61 degrees. It is strange how fast the temperature drops and at 7:30 a.m. on Monday it is 11 degrees and snowing. It is very dry and we pray rain will be received. Carol watered her iris and hibicus on Sunday. Some tulips are peeking thru the ground. A pine tree has been lost over the winter. Her brother, Jim Marsh of Ceresco, is very dry also and has been watering his trees, lawn and iris bed.
