Ainsworth Senior Center Celebrates 45 Years

Forty-five years ago on August 2, 1981, the Ainsworth Senior Center held an open house to celebrate their new building. Senior Center officers in 1981 were Dorothy Walton, Bill Gudgel, Dwight Moody, Burdetta Jansen and George Brede.

A Friday night fire destroyed a building in Ainsworth. According to Ainsworth Assistant Fire Chief Devin Painter, at approximately 9:30 p.m.
Ainsworth Community Schools Begins Classes on Thursday, August 13

Ainsworth Community Schools will open its doors to students for the 2026-27 school year on Thursday, August 13. The school has a host of new employees beginning this year.
Ainsworth Reclaims Border Cup

Ainsworth recaptured the Border Cup Saturday at the Ainsworth Golf Course, winning the annual match play event between members of the Ainsworth Golf Course and Bassett Country Club by a score of 15-1/2 to 9-1/2.

The Brown County Board of Commissioners held their regular meeting on Tuesday, January 18th at the Brown County Courthouse. Commissioners Buddy Small, Dennis Bauer and Reagan Wiebelhaus were all present. County Clerk Travis Hobbs, Attorney Andy Taylor and Emergency Management Director Traci Ganser were also present.

Nebraska’s Primary Election will be held on Tuesday, May 10, 2022 and there is still time for individuals to file for offices. The deadline for incumbents to file is February 15, 2022 and March 1, 2022 for non-incumbments to file.

Firemen Called to Haygrinder East Fire West of Ainsworth

On Thursday, January 20th just before 2:00 p.m., the Ainsworth Volunteer Fire Department responded to a fire 4.5 miles east of Ainsworth on the north side of Highway 20. A haygrinder belonging to Bret Dearmont of Newport was being used to grind hay for Gary Leach when a mechanical failure caused the hay in the tub to catch fire.

Pozehl and Nickless Earn Medals at Ord Invitational Wrestling Tournament

The Ainsworth High School Speech Team saw their first competition of the season on Saturday, January 15th at the Valentine Icebreaker Meet. The team had a great day of competition and finished in 3rd place.
